Mauritius South coast. Gris Gris beach and Grand Bassin

Today is the final post about Mauritius. About the island, which left so many bright and unforgettable emotions. All my posts by the way you can easily find the tag Mauritius >>>.

And today I will tell you about the southern and southeastern part of the island. Here are the wildest and most beautiful landscapes: sandy beaches fringed by rocks: rugged waves; rocky shores, sugar cane fields and mountainous terrain with magnificent panoramas. And then there’s the Bel Ombre tourist area.

Mauritius: Peninsula Le Morne-Braban

I’ll remember this climb for a long time. I haven’t been so scared (physically) for my life in a long time! And nothing foretold trouble… A beautiful day and a walk (so we thought) on the mountain Le Morne with our friend, who was also in Mauritius at this time. He actually offered us a climb to a height of about 500 m. And I will tell you that this is not a high altitude – we climbed mountains much higher. So without thinking we agreed…

Mauritius: Bois Cheri Tea Factory and Le Domaine de Saint Aubin

On one of our last days in Mauritius we decided to visit an old villa from the time of French colonists and a picturesque tea plantation opened in 1892.  Both of these places are in the same part of the island (lower: Savanne), but belong to different tourist areas (my detailed guide to Mauritius can be found here). If your question is, “Is it worth visiting these places?”, I’ll tell you right away, yes! But let’s go over everything in order.

Mauritius: World of Adventures Casela Nature Parks

Casela Nature Park is incredible! And it’s called Adventurous for a reason. In addition to the zoo itself, there is a sanctuary where the animals live a normal life in a large area (but with a fence). There are ziplane rides, quad bike safaris, segways, big cat walks, go-karts, and much more… It’s really no ordinary zoo, the animals live here in amazing conditions… And visitors can touch all of this.

There’s a lot to write about Mauritius. A lot. And to show even more pictures. It’s an amazingly picturesque island. A real paradise in the Indian Ocean. Incredibly beautiful, safe and interesting. Here everyone will find something to his liking: hiking, rock climbing, paragliding, helicopter rides, kitesurfing, surfing, diving, snorkeling … and just lie on a lounge chair drinking coconut – why not?
